When to use Add Installed Item

Use Add Installed Items to add traceable Physical Goods to a Subscription that may be required for its activation, such as Decoders and Smartcards. 
For example, a customer subscribed to an internet Service will need a modem in order to receive that Service. 

View Subscription Definitions to learn how to set up Installed Item validations and restrictions. The System does not impose any Installed Item validations or restrictions on creating and activating a Subscription (by default).

The most frequently used Installed Items are:

  1. Smartcard
  2. Set-Top Box (Decoder)
  3. Modem

There are two occasions that require the addition of Installed Items:

  1. When creating a new Subscription.
  2. When adding to an existing Subscription, items that are not yet added.

Add Installed Item
  • If the Subscription is already 'Effective' 
    • 'Active' Subscription Definition Rules are observed.
      • Subscription Installed Item restrictions and dependencies are observed.
      • Subscription Installed Item per Distributor restrictions and dependencies are observed.
  • The Action is available only if the Subscription is in one of the following Life Cycle States:
    • Draft
    • Effective
    • Not Effective
    • In Resting
    • Short Term Effective
    • Short Term Not Effective
  • The Installed Items available to be added are as defined in the 'Active' Inventory Management Definition.
  • Adding a new Installed Item is not allowed, if there is a New Subscription Job related to this Subscription which is not 'Cancelled' or 'Completed'.
  • Specified Installed Items and the related Provisioning Distributors are added.
  • Specified Installed Items are distributed to their related Provisioning Distributors.
  • Installed Item is removed from its Warehouse using a Stock Out Warehouse Transaction.
  • Installed Item History is updated.

 

Additional information on Executing Add Installed Item

  1. Distributor

    1. Select an available Distributor on which the Installed Item will be distributed. Select None, in order for the item not to be distributed.
      View Change Subscription Distribution to learn how to change or add distribution to items that have been added without a Distributor.

      Physical Goods will be filtered according to the selected Distributor. See more info below.

    2. Click on ADD
      1. Physical Good: Select Physical Good from the drop-down list.

        Physical Goods that can be selected are filtered based on the following:

        • Allowed Physical Goods defined in the selected Subscription Type.
        • Allowed Physical Goods in the Provisioning Provider of the selected Distributor.

      2. Serial Number: Search using quick search or click on the lens to open the Search modal for the Installed Item.

        Installed Items that can be selected are filtered based on the Inventory Management Definition.
