When to use Start Services

Use Start Services to activate Termed Services that are in a 'Draft' or 'Not Effective' State. 

View the Information Table below for information related to the Scheduling, Preview Rating and Classification of the Subscription Action.  Check the Validations & Restrictions Table for a list of available Actions, including each Action's related validations, restrictions and a description of its system process.

The Action can be applied to ALL or to a selection of Subscription Services.

Start Service
  • If a Subscription has one of the following actions scheduled, then it is not possible to activate a 'Draft Service (until after the scheduled date):
    • Activate
    • Deactivate
    • Short Term Deactivation
    • Terminate
    • Rest
  • The Subscription should be owned by an 'Active' Accounts. Receivable
  • 'Active' Subscription Definition Rules are observed:
    1. Subscription restrictions are observed.
    2. The restrictions and dependencies set by the Subscription Service and each of its Distributors are observed.
    3. The restrictions and dependencies set by the Subscription Installed Item and each of its Distributors are observed. 
  • Active Billing Term Definition Rules are observed.
    1. The conditions specified on the 'Active' Billing Term Definition for setting a Subscription as 'Effective', are satisfied.
  • Active Billing Term Definition Rules are observed.
    • The conditions to set a Subscription as effective, specified on the active Billing Term Definition, should be met.
  • The Subscription Services that will become 'Effective' are within the supported Services of the Prepaid or Normal Billing Term Scheme 
  • The Action is available if:
    • The Subscription is in one of the following Life Cycle States:
      • Draft
      • Effective (if Service that are'Not Effective' are present)
      • Not Effective
    • The Subscription Services is in one of the following Life Cycle States:
      • Draft
      • Not Effective

 

 

  • Performed Date can be set in the past and the billing of Services will start on that date. Even though it can be set in the past, the Date must be after the Service was added on the Subscription in a 'Draft' State.
  • For prepaid subscriptions, the related wallet must have enough funds to activate all services. If at least one service cannot be activated then the action is rejected. If the action is successfully submitted the wallet is debited for all the services.

  • Subscription Life Cycle State is set to 'Effective' if the Subscription is in a 'Draft' or 'Not Effective' State.
  • The Life Cycle State of the specified Subscription Services is set to 'Effective'.
  • Billable Period Start Dates and Billing Effective Dates are set based on the Prepaid or Normal Billing Term Scheme.
  • Binding End and Allowed Cancel Date extensions are applied based on the Prepaid or Normal Billing Term Scheme.
  • Billing Directive is set based on the additional Billing Directives specified in the 'Active' Billing Term Definition.
