Mobile Pass Cards
A mobile pass card is a virtual card provided by a business and distributed to Contacts. The contacts can add it to their mobile wallet pass application such as Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or Wallet Passes applications.
A Mobile Pass Card is issued to a registered Contact associated with a specific Business. This card serves to identify the Contact and to keep track of their available balance for that particular Business.
The design and management of the Mobile Pass Card UI can be customised using the back-end system, enabling each Business to tailor the UI according to its own branding. For more details, please refer to the Mobile Pass Card Settings.
THE ESSENTIALS
Landing Pages
Mobile Pass Cards can be linked to registration Landing Pages. This means that a contact can automatically receive a mobile pass card when they register with a business. If the contact loses the mobile pass card, it can be reissued through the Business Portal.
Wallet
The Mobile Pass Card actually represents the Contacts Wallet. Any awards from Offers (e.g. for registration, for purchases) or redeemed passes are accumulated in the Wallet and can be used for subsequent purchases by the Contact. The wallet funds may be subject to spending conditions, depending on the Reward Offer they originated from.
Balance
Mobile pass cards will be automatically updated to reflect changes in the wallet balance, such as wallet balance adjustments due to awards or spends. Notifications to the Contact to manually trigger the update of their Mobile Pass Card balance are supported in cases where automatic updates are not possible.
Purchasing Using Wallet Funds
Contacts can use their Mobile Pass Card to identify themselves and consume their Wallet during a purchase. The Contact can be identified:
By scanning the barcode/QR code on their mobile pass
By requesting an OTP using their mobile pass
By the human-readable code on their mobile pass
Once the Contact has been identified, they can state the amount they want to use from their Wallet to pay for their purchase. If the transaction is successful, the Contact’s balance will be adjusted accordingly on their mobile pass.
A third-party system integration or use of the CRM.COM Merchant App is necessary for submitting purchases using wallet funds.
Mobile Pass Card Settings
Configuration and design of a Mobile Pass Card is possible via Settings > Platform > Contact Facing Essentials > Mobile Pass Cards.
A mobile pass card's default configuration is available in an inactive state, but businesses can customise it to align with their branding.
Select Edit Design from the options menu to change the configuration of the Mobile Pass Card.
Apple Design & Google Design
It’s essential to set up both the Google and Apple designs of the Mobile Pass Cards as they have different settings and design requirements and do not necessarily correlate.
A system user can define the contents of the Mobile Pass Card screens but cannot change the format or the arrangement of the content on the UI.
The edit screen is split into three sections:
Left - The navigation menu is used to view/edit the configuration.
Centre - The details section contains the actual configuration areas where text, colours, images, etc., can be provided.
Right - The preview pane displays the actual screen content, changes made to the configuration will be immediately reflected here. Select to view the Front or Back screen designs.
INFORMATION (Google design)
The required information should be completed before creating the Mobile Pass Card design. The Program Name is the title of the mobile pass card so that it is easily recognisable in the contact’s wallet.
IMAGES (Apple & Google)
Upload the images that will appear on the Mobile Pass Card, these images vary in use between the two operating systems, dimensions are provided as a guide.
COLOURS (Apple & Google)
Select the colours for different attributes of the Mobile Pass Card based on your branding.
FIRST ROW (Apple design)
Select up to two different fields to be displayed in the top row of the screen.
SECOND ROW (Apple design)
Select one item of information to be displayed on the second row of the screen.
THIRD ROW (Apple design)
Select up to three fields to be displayed on the third row of the screen.
FIRST SECTION (Google design)
The first section can contain up to two fields, Google handles the alignment based on the number of fields provided.
SECOND SECTION (Google design)
You can choose to display up to three different fields in this section.
BACK (Apple & Google)
This area can hold additional information fields to be shown on the Mobile Pass Card. Best for longer length fields such as terms & conditions.
LINKS (Google design)
External links (e.g. to a URL) can be added to the Mobile Pass Card screen if desired. The order (Position) that the link will appear on the UI can also be set.
NFC/Barcodes
Near Field Communication allows data sharing between devices (typically the Contact’s mobile device and a POS scanner), e.g. scanning the Contact’s (consumer) barcode or QR code to submit a purchase.
If your Business will be identifying a Contact using other means, then this configuration will not be required - select None.
Select the preferred QR code or barcode format to be used to identify your Contacts - this will be replicated on the Mobile Pass Card.
Select the item of information (value) that the QR code/barcode represents, choose from:
Wallet Code - The contact’s wallet code, this is CRM.COM’s preferred method of contact identification.
Formatted Wallet Code - The wallet code will appear on the UI in an easy to read format, i.e. 1234-5678-9123-4567
Code - Contact code
ID - Contact identifier
Loyalty Number - Contact loyalty code
Mobile Passes Cards and the Web Portal
If your back-end system Application configuration includes a Web Portal set-up, then a Mobile Pass Card option appears on the sidebar menu of the Web portal. This allows contacts to upload their mobile pass card to their eWallet app (Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, Wallet Passes) in cases where something may have gone wrong during the initial upload.
