Promotions
Promotions are configured at the Business level, and their purpose is to apply a percentage or fixed amount discount, either to the basket total amount or to specific basket items at checkout.
Managing Promotions
To view or manage Promotions, navigate to Commerce > Promotions using the main menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
Creating a New Promotion
The Promotion configuration closely resembles that of Reward Offers, but the most significant difference is that Promotions are not related to Reward Schemes and, therefore, are applicable to all contacts unless specific segments are specified. Also, there's no option to provide a cashback, just an instant discount.
Select Create Promotion from the summary screen and start providing the necessary information.
Name
The promotion name is visible on customer-facing devices and during ordering at checkout.
Image
Upload an image for the Promotion, which is visible on customer-facing devices.
Promotion Availability
Define the duration of time the Promotion will be valid or leave blank for open-ended, ongoing promotions.
Short & Long Description
Promotion descriptions are visible on customer-facing devices. Provide a clear and concise description of the offer with any conditions.
Contacts
Which Contacts are eligible for the Promotion? Enlist the use of a segment if you want to apply selection criteria, not specifying a segment implies that the Promotion is valid for all Contacts of the Business.
Locations
Specify the offer's location conditions, such as particular Merchants, Venues, Countries, etc. where the purchase must take place for the Promotion to apply. If none are specified, then the Promotion applies to all locations.
Timings
State the specific dates and times when a purchase must take place for the Promotion to apply. If none are configured then the Promotion is valid on all days and times.
Basket
Specify the payment method and/or a supply method condition for the Promotion and applicable basket conditions (e.g., the Promotion applies if specific products are included in the basket or the minimum basket amount has been met). Leave blank if no basket conditions apply.
Basket conditions differ when they refer to Termed Service products or Product Types. Subscription promotions require additional information such as the billing cycle or the contract period of the Termed Service ordered, thus allowing the user to set up more complex business rules, i.e. the longer the contract period, the higher the Promotion’s discount is. Finally, basket conditions also include pre-requisite services, i.e., services to which the Contact is already subscribed to, to be eligible for a discount for the new service.
Offerings
Set the promotion discount amount or percentage to be applied to the whole basket or to selected products.
Offerings for specific termed services require one more setting, the duration for which the Contact will benefit from this offering, since the termed service to which they subscribed will be billed on a recurring basis.
Activating a Promotion
Once the Promotion has been created it is Inactive and must be activated to become effective. This can be done from the Promotions summary screen using the respective Promotion's Options button (…).
Copying Promotions
By using the Copy option from the summary screen, a system user can create the same Promotion in a different currency. If the currency toggle is not enabled, the Promotion will be copied in the same currency.
