What are Inventory Management Definitions?

Inventory Management definitions is a set of business rules used to control the behavior of Inventory Management throughout their whole life cycle. Inventory management definitions are mandatory. If no active inventory management definitions exists then no inventory management processes can be performed.

In particular, via Inventory Management definitions you have the option to define the Warehouse types from where Physical goods will be retrieved or moved back to when used either on Jobs or Subscriptions.

Inventory Management  Definition attributes 

Name

Description

NumberAn auto generated number that uniquely identifies the Inventory management definition
Name*The name of the definition
Alternative code*An alternative code for the definition. On creating a new definition it should default to the first letter of each word included in the name (in capitals), if nothing else is specified
DescriptionA description for the definition
State*The state of the definition which can be active or inactive. Only one active definition can exist at any point
Allowed Warehouses for Physical Goods on Jobs*

AVAILABLE UP TO CRM.COM R9.0.0

Determines which types of warehouses can be used while adding or removing physical goods on subscriptions, through specific business actions which include the following:

  • For adding Physical Goods
  • For adding Physical Goods (during swap)
  • For removing Physical Goods
  • For removing Physical Goods (during Swap)
Allowed Warehouses for Physical Goods on Subscriptions*

AVAILABLE UP TO CRM.COM R9.0.0

Determines which types of warehouses can be used while adding or removing physical goods on subscriptions through specific business actions which include the following:

  • For adding Physical Goods
  • For adding Physical Goods (during Swap) - AVAILABLE FROM CRM.COM R9.0.0
  • For removing Physical Goods
  • For removing Physical Goods (during Swap) - AVAILABLE FROM CRM.COM R9.0.0

A classification of each specified warehouse type, that identifies if each warehouse type can be used to provide physical goods for rental, direct sales, indirect sales needs to be set on specific business actions.The classification is selected per each warehouse that can be specified in the following business actions

  • For Adding Physical Goods
  • For Adding Physical Goods (during Swap)

The following classification options are available:

  • Rentals
  • Indirect Sales
Allowed Warehouses for Physical Goods *

AVAILABLE FROM CRM.COM R10.0.0

Determines which types of warehouses can be used while adding, removing or swapping physical goods through specific business actions related to either a Subscription or a Job. Multiple Allowed Warehouse types can be specified which include the following:

  • For Adding Physical Goods
  • For Adding Physical Goods During Replacement
  • For removing Physical Goods
  • For Removing Physical Goods During Replacement

A classification of each specified warehouse type, that identifies if each warehouse type can be used  for  physical goods for rental, direct sales, indirect sales needs to be set on specific business actions.The classification is selected per each warehouse that can be specified in all business actions

The following classification options are available:

  • Rentals
  • Indirect Sales
  • Direct Sales

Defining your own Inventory Management Definition tailored to your company's needs

  1. Navigate to CONFIGURATION > FOUNDATION > INVENTORY MANAGEMENT > SET UP BUSINESS DEFINITIONS
     
  2. Either search for an existing one or from the Top Menu click on NEW

Deleting Inventory Management  Definitions

  1. Search for the entity that you would like to delete
    Visit  Using Summary Pages   to find out how you can search using CRM.COM Summary Screens
  2. Click on the link of the record you would like to delete, to be transferred to the Data Entry page
  3. From the actions menu click on "DELETE"
     The entity will be deleted given that the validations are satisfied
