Overview
Usage Service Catalogs maintain information related to services which are provided upon catalogues (USCs) are catalogues for products that are offered on customer request and charged based on their usage. Usage services may vary from movies (PPV and VOD) to video consumption. USCs contain information on pricing and service validity and options for integrating with third party provisioning systems.
Usage Service catalogue Features
- Services in USCs include Pay-per-view (PPV) or Video on demand (VOD) movies, video games or telephone calls
...
Major features
- Information included in the catalogs includes the pricing of the service which can differ based on its usage as well as the validity of the services.
- Additional information required when integrating with third party systems that provide the provisioning, such as provider and provisioning id is included in the catalogs.
- Over-The-Top (OTT) business model is supported by using usage service catalogs.
- Usage service catalog services are available to be added to subscriptions , making USCs suitable for supporting the Over-the-top (OTT) business model. Despite their name, USCs can also contain physical goods (such as fuel) and can therefore support diverse lines of business.
- Use usage service catalogue definitions to define standard rates for services of the same type, for efficiency when creating usage service catalogues.
- Usage services are added to subscriptions, managed and billed through the 'Add Usage Service' subscription action, through which they are managed and billed.

To limit the time needed to setup your catalogs, you can predefine rates based on the product type. In this way each product added will get the rate defined in the definition for its type and you only amend to a different rate if needed.
...
Pre-Rated: There are cases where rates to services are initiated from third party systems. These services can then be imported to CRM.COM through the WEB API but you may choose not to apply CRM.COM rates as the rate comes directly from the external system. By checking the pre-rated field, then usage services are billed based on the rates imported, therefore the Base Rate' and 'Tiered Rates' fields in the catalog will not be available to be set.
Base Rate: The base rate of services of the specified usage service type.
...
The tiered rates of the specified usage service type. Each rate is defined in a different row and it will be applied only if the conditions defined on the row are met. You can define multiple rates but the conditions should not overlap. Tiered rates consist of the following:
- Conditions
- Usage Method: The usage method that will be used to provision the usage service
- Device: The device that will be used to provision the usage service
- Source Category: The source category that will initiate the provisioning of the usage service
- Destination Category: The destination category that will receive the provisioning of the usage service
- Usage Start Time (inclusive): The time of the day that the usage started
- Usage End Time (inclusive): The time of the day that the usage ended
- Minimum Usage (Inclusive): The minimum usage of the usage service
- Maximum Usage (Inclusive): The maximum usage of the usage service
Rate: The rate that will be applied if the conditions above are fulfilled.
Note |
---|
Tiered Rates conditions should not overlap. e.g. You cannot define the same condition in two different rows with a different Tiered Rate. |

- Usage services from multiple catalogues may be selected and added to a subscription.
- When a usage service is added a Usage Detail Record is created which holds information related to the order of the usage service and used for billing.
- Already rated (billed) usage services (i.e. UDRs) can be imported into CRM.COM from external system in which cases billing in CRM.COM can handle only additional discounts provided.

In other cases you might want to allow subscribers to order usage service with no prerequisites. According to your business rules select the appropriate setting.
