Managing Promotions
Info |
---|
Promotions are configured at the Business level, and their purpose is to apply a percentage or fixed amount instant discount, either to the basket total amount, or to specific basket items at checkout. Promotions are configured similar to Reward Offers but are independent of Reward Schemes, therefore are applicable to all Contacts of a Business (subject to segmentation). |
To view or manage Promotions navigate to Commerce > Promotions using the main menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
Creating a new Promotion
Promotion configuration closely resembles that of Reward Offers.
Select Create Promotion from the summary screen and start providing the necessary information.
Name
The promotion name visible on customer-facing devices, and during ordering at checkout.
Image
Upload an image for the promotion, this too is visible on customer-facing devices.
Promotion Availability
Define the duration of time the promotion will be valid for, leave open-ended for ongoing promotions.
Short & Long Description
Promotion descriptions visible on customer-facing devices. Provide a clear and concise description of the offer with any conditions.
Customers
Which Contacts are eligible for the promotion? Enlist the use of a segment if you want to apply selection criteria, not specifying a segment implies that the promotion is valid for all Contacts of the Business.
Image RemovedImage AddedLocations
Specify location conditions for the offer such as particular Merchants, Venues, Countries etc. for which the promotion applies. If none are specified then promotion applies to all.
Image RemovedImage AddedTimings
Specific dates and times during ordering when the promotion applies. None implies that the promotion is valid on all days and times.
Image RemovedImage AddedBasket
Specify the payment method and/or a supply method condition for the promotion, as well applicable basket conditions (e.g. the promotion applies if specific products are included in the basket, or the minimum basket amount has been met). If none are specified, then applies to all.

Basket conditions differ when they refer to Termed service products or product types. Subscriptio n promotions require some additional information such as the billing cycle or the contract period of the termed service ordered allowing thus to set up more complex business rules i.e. the longer the contract period is, the higher the promotion’s discount is. Finally, basket conditions also include pre-requisite services, i.e. services which the contact is already subscribed to in order to be eligible to get a discount for the new service. |
Offerings
Set the promotion discount amount or percentage to be applied either to the whole basket, or to selected products.

Offerings for specific termed services require one more setting; for how long the contact will benefit from this offering since the termed service to which they subscribed to will be billed on a recurring basis. |
Activating a Promotion
Once the Promotion has been saved it will need to be activated to become effective. This can be done from the Promotions summary screen using the Options button (…) of the respective Promotion.
Note |
---|
Promotions & Reward Offers Promotions and Rewards Offers can co-exist for Orders, meaning that if a Contact is eligible for both a Promotion and a Reward Offer, then they will receive both. Example: A Business configures a Promotion offer for 10% discount on the total basket amount, and also has a standard 10% cashback Reward Offer. If a Contact (who is eligible for both) places an order, the 10% Promotion discount will be applied instantly to the basket, and when the Purchase Event is created the Contact will receive a 10% cashback on the discounted amount. |
Promotion Settings
There are no settings to configure for Promotions.
