R9 - Add Installed Item
What does this section cover?
When to use Add Installed Item
Installed Items are necessary in order to provide the services for which a customer has subscribed to. For example if a customer is subscribed to an internet service then a modem will be needed in order to receive that service. The subscription installed items can be related with specific subscription services or the whole subscription. By default the system does not impose any installed Item validations or restrictions on creating and activating a subscription. These maybe defined in the Subscription Definitions.
The most frequently used Installed Items are :
- Smartcard
- Set Top Box (Decoder)
- Modem
Add Installed Items Subscription action is used to add one or more installed items on a specific subscription. There are 2 occasions where you might need to use this action
- Creating a new subscription
- Adding items to an existing subscription (i.e. to be used for Twins) or because they were not yet added.
Adding Installed Items on an existing Subscription
If the subscription already exists then the items will need to be explicitly added by the user triggering the action Add Installed Items.

Executing Add Installed Item
- Navigate to BILLING APPLICATION > BILLING > SUBSCRIPTIONS > MANAGE SUBSCRIPTIONS
- Search for the Subscription you are looking for, using the criteria section
- Click on the Subscription number to go to the Data Entry page of the subscription
- On the left hand side of the screen you can see the ACTION PANEL
- Click on Subscription Installed Items Related ActionsÂ
- Find the action you would like to execute and click on the link to open the action details in a modal window
Distributor
Select from the available distributors. This will be the one that the installed item will be distributed on. If you do not want the item to be distributed anywhere then select None.
Visit Change Subscription Distribution to find out how to change distribution or add distribution to items that have been added with no distributorAccording to the selected distributor, Physical Goods will be filtered accordingly. See below
- Click on ADD
Physical Good:Â Select Physical Good from the drop down list
Physical Goods allowed to be selected are filtered based on the following:
• Allowed Physical goods defined in selected Subscription Type
• Allowed Physical Goods in provisioning provider of selected distributorÂSerial Number: Search using quick search or the click on the lens to open the search modal for the installed item
Installed Items allowed to be selected are filtered based on the Inventory Management Definition.

 Provides an overview of the existing installed items
SUBSCRIPTION ACTION DETAILS
- Action Type:Â Select action type from the drop down if you have configured custom actions in the system, using the specific behaviour code
- Sub Action Type:Â Select action type from the drop down if you have configured custom actions in the system, using the specific business classification code
Action Type and Sub Action type are visible only if applicable - Performed By User :Â Search and add the user that logs the actionÂ
If you leave empty then the Logged in user will be set Performed Date:Â Click on the calendar icon and select date and time
- Click on SUBMIT
Action will be validated as provided in the section above and submitted if validations are passed
System Processing
Once the action is submitted the following changes will be carried out by the system:
- Specified installed items will be added
- Related provisioning distributors, if they do not already exist will be added
- Specified installed items will be distributed to their related provisioning distributors
- Installed Item will be removed from warehouse using a stock out warehouse transaction
- Installed item history will be updated
Adding fixed bundle Installed Items
If the Installed Item you would like to add is a bundle product (i.e. is made up of multiple physical goods) then there are additional validations and system processes to be carried out.

Add a Fixed Bundle Installed Item on a Subscription
- Physical Good: From the drop down list select a Physical good that is defined in the system as a fixed bundle product
Serial Number: Search for an installed item of the specific physical good, using quick search or click on the lens to open the search modal
System will retrieve the physical goods that resign in warehouses, whose warehouse type is defined under Subscription Warehouses in Inventory Definitions.
If the action is being triggered via Jobs then you can add Traceable bundles that include both traceable and non traceable components. If the action is triggered via Subscriptions then you can only add Traceable bundles that only include traceable components
Components: Click on VIEW to open modal and view the installed items included in the bundle
Adding Single Installed Item to Multiple Distributors
You may want to provide services to a subscription from multiple providers. For example Provider X will be used to provision the subscription with TV channels while Provider Y will be used for provisioning OTT services.
In order to support this, you need to use the same installed item for multiple Providers. Follow the steps below in order to distribute the installed item in multiple distributors. each of which distributor can belong to different providers.
The process below only describes the steps when adding the installed item.

- Processing Jobs : Of type:
- New Subscription
- Add Subscription Services
DISTRIBUTOR
Select from the available distributors. This will be the one that the services and/or installed item will be distributed on. If you do not want the service and /or item to be distributed anywhere then select None.
Visit Change Subscription Distribution to find out how to change distribution or add distribution to services and items that have been added with no distributorAccording to the selected distributor, Services and Physical Goods will be filtered accordingly.
• Services Filtering: The system will filter based on the services defined in the Provisioning Provider, that the selected provisioning distributor belongs to
• Physical Goods Filtering: The system will filter based on the physical goods defined in the Provisioning Provider that the selected provisioning distributor belongs to
INSTALLED ITEMS
- Click on ADD
Physical Good: Select Physical Good from the drop down list
Physical Goods allowed to be selected are filtered based on the following:
• Allowed Physical goods defined in selected Subscription Type
• Allowed Physical Goods in provisioning provider of selected distributorSerial Number: Search using quick search or the click on the lens to open the search modal for the installed item
Installed Items allowed to be selected are filtered based on the Inventory Management Definition.
A check will be automatically added in the Enabled checkbox
- A record will be created under Subscription Installed Items to Be Added with the installed item added and the related distributor
- Click on ADD
- Now select a different Distributor
- The installed item record added on distributor A, is now read only and the Enabled checkbox is not selected.
- To add the same installed item on distributor B, place a check in the Enable checkbox
- A record will be created under Subscription Installed Items to Be Added with the installed item added and the related distributor
- A record will be created under Subscription Installed Items to Be Added with the installed item added and the related distributor
