What

are Contact Information Industries

are Industries?

Industries are used to define specific segments Use Industries to to group segments of the economy that share highly similar business activities. Usually the number of industries that are defined can be in the hundreds, as according to business activity.

As each industry can be broken down into more specific industries. Therefore Industries have a hierarchical tree structure. sub-categories, there can be hundreds defined.  Industries can be used as information in both companies and persons.  

Industry Sectors can be used for Contact information (Person and Company)

Creating, Editing & Deleting Validations & Restrictions

Delete
  • Cannot delete an Industry if it is the parent node
  • Deleted Contact Information categories are still visible on Contact Information which were created using those categories
Industry attributes 
  • Navigate to Industries and explore existing records via the Summary page.  Industries follow a hierarchical structure, with 'parent' rows linked to multiple 'children' rows directly beneath them.
  • Click on the (Name) link of any record to open a modal window with its related details. Select an existing industry for the parent to make the specific Industry a child or erase the parent name to make the specific Industry a parent itself.
  • Either SAVE the changes or cancel (X) and go back to the Summary page. 
  • Create a new TREE TEMPLATE (ADD) or delete an existing one (REMOVE)
  • Use EXPAND ALL  to view parents and children and COLLAPSE ALL to only view parents.

Defining your own industries tailored to your company's needs

  • Navigate to CONFIGURATION > CRM APPLICATION > CONTACT INFORMATION > SET UP INDUSTRIES
  • Click on Expand All to look at the tree structure and all available industries

    • Creating a new industry

    Follow the steps below in order to add a new industry:

  • From the industries summary screen page click on "ADD"
  • Add industry modal will open where you will provide the required information

    1. Parent: You can search for existing industries to set as parents to the new industry that you are adding.
      If you don't add anything then the new industry will be added as a Parent
    2. Name
    3. Code
    4. Description
    • Click on "SAVE" to close the modal

    Modifying an industry

    Follow the steps below in order to modify an existing industry:

  • Click on "Expand All" to see all the defined industries
  • Click on the name of the industry you would like to update

  • The edit industry modal will open, where you can update the industry information, change the parent or remove the parent

    • When you are done click on "SAVE" to close the modal

  • Deleting an industry

    Follow the steps below in order to delete an existing industry:

    1. Click on "Expand All" to see all the defined industries
    2. Check the box located at the left hand side of the industry you would like to delete

    3. Click on "REMOVE" found at the top of the tree structure
